Dr Karan Thakur is a seasoned healthcare administrator with wide-ranging experience in the field of healthcare policy, hospital operations, projects, health communications and healthcare sustainability. He has held various leadership roles at the Apollo Hospitals in India and is currently the Group Vice President for Corporate Affairs & Sustainability. He was previously a technical consultant on climate and health to the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
He is a leading advocate internationally for reducing the health sector's impact on the climate crisis and making sustainability a central pillar in the health delivery model. He has worked extensively to create awareness on the impact climate change is having on human health.
Dr Thakur is an alumnus of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and National Law University, New Delhi. He was the 2022 Global Fellow from India for the Eisenhower Fellowships, and the 2024 Chevening Gurukul Fellow for Leadership & Excellence at the University of Oxford.
